GOVERNANCE & SECURITY: NANS Southwest Urges First Lady to Address Educational Security Gap Amidst Oyo Kidnappings

EKITI STATE — As the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, arrives in Ekiti State for a high-level working visit, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest Zone D has issued a formal appeal linking regional security to the stability of the educational sector.

In a comprehensive statement signed by the Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), the association highlighted a critical security metric: the continued captivity of students and teachers abducted from schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Metric Nigeria reports that the student body views these abductions not just as a tragedy, but as a systemic threat to youth development. NANS Southwest emphasized that when schools become targets for bandits, the fundamental right to education is compromised, leading to long-term socio-economic setbacks for the region.

"No child should be forced to learn under the shadow of fear," Billioncodes stated. “The safety of Nigerian students must remain a national priority. Beyond the current tragedy in Oyo State, the growing concerns around insecurity within and around educational institutions require urgent and sustained intervention.”

NANS Southwest is specifically calling on the First Lady to use her "moral authority" to catalyze federal action. The association argues that:

  1. Rescue Acceleration: There must be an intensified, intelligence-driven push to reunite victims with their families.
  2. Infrastructure Protection: A new policy framework is needed to safeguard rural schools which are often the most vulnerable.
  3. National Advocacy: The First Lady’s voice can elevate the plight of the Oriire victims to the highest level of governmental discourse.

While welcoming the First Lady to the Southwest, Billioncodes expressed confidence that her presence could inspire hope among millions of young Nigerians—provided that the government demonstrates a visible commitment to the "distressing situation" in Oyo State.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all lawful efforts aimed at securing the release of the abducted students and teachers, insisting that the future of the nation depends on the safety of its educational institutions today.
